Product Care
Shoes and Handbags
To help maintain the appearance and to prolong the life of your Unisa shoes and handbags, we recommend the following:
1. Leather soles are a natural product and are porous in wet conditions. To maintain the life of your Unisa shoes we recommend that fine half rubber soles are fitted. Leather soles are often painted. This is a cosmetic feature, which will wear away in patches when worn. Leave wet shoes/bags to dry naturally (never by artificial heat). The use of a shoe tree will help maintain the shape of your shoes. For further advice, please contact customer services.
2. Regular use of a protector spray will help to guard against staining and water penetration (however the protector spray will not make the shoe/bag waterproof).
3. Top pieces on heels (heel caps) are a replaceable component. Do not allow them to wear down. They should be replaced regularly by a reputable shoe repairer. Thin and delicate heels must be worn with extra consideration. Wearing shoes on very uneven, abrasive surfaces or when driving may weaken the shoes and could spoil the leather sole or intricate components.
4. It is advisable to regularly clean and care for your Unisa leather shoes with a recommended wax polish or shoe cream. Prior to cleaning ensure that the shoes/bag are dry and remove any dirt with a cloth.
5. Due to the delicate nature of our high quality leather/suede, Unisa provide you with a dust bag to help maintain the appearance of your handbags during storage. We recommend its use particularly with patent leather, where extra care should be taken.
6. Due to the fine nap of suede uppers, extra care should be taken when cleaning. Gentle use of a suede sponge will remove most stains.
7. Use a shoe horn to prevent damage to the back of your Unisa shoes.
8. Unisa shoes/bags are made from the finest leather and it is advisable to alternate wear to prolong the life.
9. Insoles on mules and sandals may lift due to heat and perspiration. This is an unavoidable consequence of normal wear, but can be remedied by re sticking, a very simple job that any heel bar can do.
10. Espadrilles are a high quality beach shoe and are not designed for prolonged city use or to be worn in wet weather.
11. Shoes/bags embellished with beads and sequins are especially delicate. Please take particular care when wearing them as scuffing may damage them.
12. Please take care not to over-fill your bag as it may lose its form and you may damage the handles.
13. Colour fastness cannot be guaranteed on suede or leather.
